May 2022 – National Clean Maritime Demonstration Hub

7:00 am, Wednesday, 1st June 2022 - 2 years ago

A blueprint for the greening up of vessels in the UK’s largest offshore wind port has been delivered, with work now being taken forward. This was the announcement in May as North East Lincolnshire positions itself at the heart of the clean maritime sector.

Elsewhere, plans were submitted for further development of the Europarc Enterprise Zone in Grimsby and key organisation involved in decarbonisation projects across the region will be coming together to promote and educate the opportunities of decarbonisation to students and businesses.

Port of Grimsby to Progress Green Vessel Infrastructure Work After Feasibility Project Success

As reported on Business Live, the development of a National Clean Maritime Demonstration Hub in Grimsby is a step closer to being realised with the completion of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s feasibility study.

Described as catalysing the journey towards offshore wind vessel decarbonisation, it was the flagship project of five initiated last September as part of a £.3 million Department for Transport competition, led by Innovate UK.

Leo Hambro, commercial director, at Tidal Transit, added: “The future of offshore wind logistics has to be as green as the energy that the farms produce.”

Wykeland Plots Further Europarc Expansion in Grimsby

Further expansion of Grimsby’s Europarc business park is being planned to meet demand for high quality industrial accommodation. Wykeland Group has submitted an application to build three new units in the 15,000 to 20,000 sq ft bracket, in what would be another multi-million pound investment on site.

Built in phases over the past 20 years, more than 2,000 people are employed on Europarc. The site is situated between the Ports of Grimsby and Immingham adjacent to the A180 and therefore benefits from good road access to the national motorway network connecting the site with all parts of the UK putting 40 million consumers within a 4-hour drive.
